Will that smell ever go away?

This is Jack.

Jack is embarrassed.

We love Jack. Sophie loves Jack too.

Jack is a Rat Terrier who will eat anything that moves. Even his dinner bowl that he scoots everywhere to insure he gets every last morsel of food.

On this morning though, Jack ate something so rancid, so distasteful, so absolutely disgusting that . . .

Jack’s routine every morning is that he must empty himself. Happens every morning anywhere from 2:00 am until our preferred time of 4:00 am. He goes out takes care of himself. Eats a bug or two. Walks the perimeter. Meanders through the yard. Barks at the door when it is time to come in. This morning the bark was different. It was excited. “Wow I caught something good.” “Drat the cat, squirrel, possum got away.” Jack can be pretty high strung at times. We are never sure what the excitement is until we open the door. Surprise!

This morning Jack was not happy. So he ran straight to our room and THREW UP!

Vomit is always vile, but this morning it was especially so because Jack wrapped his mouth around a STINK BUG!!!!! Not the cute little black beetles of my childhood. These make some huge stink that permeates everything as bad or worse than SKUNK.

So, on a day with loads to do, in between it is laundry, bathing dogs (Jack), trying to make this smell go away. Poor Roger, chased everyone out of his office at work. His phone stinks and he stinks. Oh, and that is laundry with a capital L. Everything in the closets, in our drawers, all the bedding and towels. Put on my workout clothes this morning that were hanging in a room down the hall and my walking mate even could smell the stink while we were outside in a park!

Some days are crazy. Some days just stink! I am grateful for a beautiful day with the door open and all fans running. But, I am still wondering . . . Will that smell ever go away?

Cheers! Have a Doodle Day.

Sometimes a smell gets into your nose and even after your things are clean you can still smell it. Maybe it’s your nose hair or maybe the memory stays with you for awhile. Good thing we love our pets. (Babies too)

    • It is a good thing we love our pets. But, no the smell is definitely alive and well. Still today. Still doing laundry. When Roger goes to work or I go to the store and everyone leaves the room or I clear a path . . . it is alive and well. Not stuck in my nose or vivid imagination.
